Campaign 3

Mission 18 - F-Fox, on her first mission, suffered enough damage to be out of action a couple of days. Rookie Bomb Aimer P/O Drew Digby was credited with 48% on target accuracy. The bomber's crew got their first kill, an Me110 G-4. The crew also suffered its first casualty, the death of tail gunner F/Sgt Martin Lovell, from enemy cannon fire.
Mission 19 - Very quiet mission. Faced four enemy night fighters. Shot down none, and only lost the tail guns. No casualties to the crew.
Mission 20 - Rather uneventful. Flak over target knocked out the nose turret guns. Enemy fighter on egress from target knocked out the H2S. No other damage was received or given.

Campaign 4

Mission 1 - No enemy fighters were encountered the entire mission.Flak was inaccurate. In the target zone two turrets had their machine guns jam due to the cold. They remained jammed for the remainder of the mission. In the target zone AA was light, with no hits. Bomb run was on target for 50% accuracy.
Mission 2 - Faced a single enemy fighter, which failed to hit us. Flak, however, did crack the windscreen. Searchlights were very persistent, catching us in almost every zone.
Mission 3 - No enemy fighters were encountered. The enemy searchlights were persistent, enabling flak to zero in. We took a few minor flak hits, but nothing to interfere with the handling of the aircraft. Target was completely obscured, throwing off our aim, resulting in a complete miss.

Mission 4 - Once out over the North Sea, we veered left toward Bremerhaven, on a spoof raid. MUG Sgt Ramsey moved to the RC to dispense Window, Flt Eng W/O Bryan manned Mandrel, and F/Sgt Charcoal manned H2S. Each working to make as much “noise” as they could, until we were further up the coast. I would say our efforts were somewhat successful. The Dutch coast was passing on our right when we were attacked by a Junkers 88 C-6. The Junkers made its first pass from 12 o’clock, unseen. We suffered no damage. I immediately began to take evasive action. The next three passes were from 6 o’clock. Continuing evasive actions, the Junkers only hit us on its third pass. F/Sgt Everett, in the tail, took a fragment to the head, knocking him unconscious. After the fourth pass the Junkers disappeared into the heavy overcast. Once clear of the enemy, Sgt Ramsey moved F/Sgt Everett to the RC, to administer what first aid he could. Once Everett was settled, Sgt Ramsey moved into the tail turret. We faced no further enemy aircraft for the remainder of the mission. Over the target, P/O Digby informed us the area was completely obscured by ground fog. However, utilizing the wonders of modern technology, H2S and GEE-H gave him accurate enough information for a good drop. Intelligence informed us he put 50% on target. F/Sgt Everett is expected to be on limited duty for at least three weeks. I have been assigned a Corporal Kimberly as his replacement.
Mission 5 - Faced only one enemy night fighter. The enemy knocked out the bombsight in the target zone, just before the bomb run. The fighter was shot down by the tail gunner. Flak was heavy in and out of the target. F-Fox lost heat in the nose and the tail, took a hit to the left outboard fuel tank [LLS re-roll changed to loss of brakes.], took BIP in an empty bomb bay, and took multiple superficial hits. Despite the slow progress home, F-Fox was not picked up by Kammhuber in most zones, and no enemy fighters appeared when detected. A/C written off.
