Mission AAR
Mission 1 Essen - Dropped to <10000ft...Jumped by x2 fighters on our return. (Seperate incidents). Corkscrew manoeuvres carried out, gunners dammaged both fighters forcing them to break off. Safe landing back at base.
Mission 2 Paris - Hit by gremlins, flak and fighters on the way in and out. Tail guns U/S, Mid upper turret damaged. Lined up to blast a Patesseria to smitherines and the bombs wouldn't release.
Kept them on board to drop them in the channel. Landed for tea and stickies! Chief's got a few holes to patch up. Should be good to go next time!
Mission 4 Mannheim - Take off uneventful. We were intercepted over the North Sea. Gnr. Griffin spotted a Ju88 at 6'clock low. Opened fire and destroyed his left wing sending the crew into the drink. No parachutes. We had no problems until flying over the Netherlands all. The plane was hit by devastating fire from a fighter. Damage throughout the aircraft with a fuel fire in the left wing. We'd just been ordered to bail out when the wing exploded. I was thrown out of the aircraft as it disintegrated. I couldnt see any other chutes and I managed to evade capture. Thanks to the fine chaps and chapesses of the underground, I was smuggled onto a fishing boat that got me back to Blighty! I'll be fit for duty after a few beers!!
