Campaign 3 Mission AAR
Woof, Woof, Woof lost during Mission 5, 1943. Mystery Machine lost during Mission 9, 1943; Thunder Tank lost on Brunswick mission. Thunder Tank II lost on Berlin mission. Tally Ho lost on Trappes mission
Mission 7- This trip was plain sailing until we reached the target area. Were bounced by a 110, minor damage but on its second pass our tail Gnr Barry shot him down (no chutes were seen). We were still lined up for our bomb run and Tommy our bombardier hit the target with an outstanding 60% (confirmed later by the photo). A little bit of turbulence over the target, other than a smattering of light flack on the way home our trip back was uneventful. Looking forward to celebrating a successful trip!
Mission 8 - A short hop to France to attack, I’m told in the strictest of confidence a German ice cream Truck, that’s gonna strike him where it hurts while they are playing hide the mine on the beech! Had some oxygen troubles so dropped back down to 10,000ft. Managed to blast the target with 50% accuracy! Apologies Pierre for the other 50%! Made it back in one piece, gonna catch last orders at “The strumpets knickers” pub!
Mission 9 - All was going well for Tally Ho II, light flack to and from the target, light damage.Thomo dropped 40% of our bombs on target. Immediately afterwards we hit some thermal turbulence which somehow cut off Squiffy’s left foot, must have been caught under the rudder bar, Claret went everywhere but soon froze at high altitude. Blakey the engineer took over while Squiffy was patched up. Had a run in with a couple of fighters for no effect and made a safe landing back at base. The crew were keen to make old Squiffy a pegged leg out of an old table leg, but all are stunned that he snuffed it after landing. We will be after a new Skipper for the next trip!
Mission 10 - This one flew like a training mission, other than some light flak to keep everyone awake it went very well!
Mission 11 - Ello London, Ello London. White bunny ere, we regret that one of your Allifax Bombers crashed after a collision with a German night fighter near Le Mans. They were both flying very low, with no chance of escape. There were no survivors. Our compatriots near St. Meelard en Jalles report devastation to a factory that made underpants for the German submarine crews! Their sacrifice will not be in vain. Vive Le France, White bunny out.
