Last plane, D for Derby shot down during Vegesack mission Aug 1942. L-Lincoln shot down during Genoa, Italy mission (Mission 8 1943). Previous A/C G-Griffin lost on Aulnoye mission. P-Prescott lost on Bristillerie mission.

1943 Mission Notes:

Mission 14 - Rookie crew scores big. A pair of Bf110s encountered outbound over the Channel. No damage caused by either side. AAA was ineffective, when encountered. Aircraft was unmolested on bomb run, allowing a straight and smooth approach, dropping 94% of the bombs on target. The next encounter with an enemy fighter was another Bf110 over the Channel. This time defensive fire caused a fuel tank fire on the Bf110F4, forcing it to break off. A probable. Long way to fly home with a fuel tank on fire.

Mission 15 - No good deed goes unpunished. After dropping an unexpected 94% of our bombs on target, on our first mission, we aborted on our second. As we were running up our engines, in preparation for roll out and takeoff, #2 engine caught fire. We successfully extinguished the flames, and conducted an emergency shut down of engine #1, and evacuated the plane. A very unpleasant feeling watching our squadron take off without us.

Mission 16 - Flight was quiet all the way to the target. Radar detection was quiet until we crossed the French coast, then went quiet until approach to the target. Flak was ineffective. X-Xray was hit with a Shrage Musik attack. Six (6) cannon hits, with only one causing any damage, and that was a fuel leak which caught fire in the starboard wing. Captain hit the bail out alarm. All crew bailed out safely, and all were captured and interned by the Germans.
