Crew:
Previous Aircraft  K- Karen lost on Brunswick mission. Karen II lost on Berlin mission. B for Bessie lost on Chambly mission. B for Bialystok lost on Noisy-Le-Sec mission.

Mission 8 - Take Off - OK. Flew to target; attacked by Do217 J-1. No serious damages to Q for Quebec. Believe our defensive gunfire damaged attacking E/A. No flak. As we exited bomb run, attacked by Ju88 G7. E/A inflicted some damages to Q for Quebec, most serious being setting O2 aflame in nose compartment. It took three fire extinguishers to put out fire. Descended to 1500m altitude. Landed without incident. Have been told Q for Quebec should be ready for next mission.
Mission 9 - On approach to Continent, attacked by JU88 C-6. Enemy gunfire holed inboard port fuel tank, causing leakage. Engineer reported rate of fuel loss would put us over enemy territory when fuel depleted. Decided to dump bombs into Channel and return to base.
Mission 10 - Flew to designated target without encounter with E/A. On approach to target, were hit by search light. Any E/A in vicinity must have been otherwise engaged. A lot of flak thrown up at us, one hit from flak ( superficial ). Hit target with estimated 60%. Encountered E/A (believed to have been a Ju88 C-6 ) as we headed for home. E/A hit us, knocking out engine 3. E/A came back for a second run at us, but failed to put any bullets or shells into us. Landed safely back at base.
Mission 11 - Just after reaching high altitude, jumped by Ju88. He surprised us and put some holes in Q for QUEBEC - including holing the inboard port fuel tank and knocking out engine 3. The blasted Jerry made three runs at us, then disappeared into the night. No crew casualties. Turned around and returned to base, circling wide until all squadrons had opportunity to take off. Landed safely and our bomb load can be used for next mission.
Mission 12 - Once again, just after gaining altitude, attacked by enemy night fighter! What we think was a DO217 N2 made one firing pass at us from six high. Jerry missed us, and disappeared into the rather bright night. Out over the Channel, we were again surprised by Jerry, This Jerry hit us several times, putting a hole in port wing outside fuel tank, wounding BA Sgt. McLaughlin (superficial laceration to his right cheek) and as we found out later, shredded our dinghy. On this Ju88 G-7's second pass and final pass, Jerry put another hole in fuel tanks - fortunately, this one self-sealed. Also knocked out heat for Sgt. Shields in the tail turret. Hit by searchlight over target; flak was above us as we'd dropped to low altitude to keep Sgt. Shields from freezing. Another Jerry found us, and the worse he did was put a hole in right rudder. Even with his cheek bleeding, Sgt. McLaughlin put estimated 50% of our bombs on target. Made turn for base and with exception of another Jerry hitting us a bit west of Canterbury, there were no other encounters. This Jerry, thought to have been a Ju88 G-7, hit us several times, putting tail guns out of action. Shields did see Jerry this time, but missed his shot. Landed safely.
Mission 13 - Shortly after take off, was jumped by what we think was a Ju88C6. Jerry fired at us from six level and set port outboard fuel tank ablaze. I hit BAIL OUT klaxon and the crew exited the aircraft, all landing on land. Sgt. Shields (tail gunner) was wounded in the attack, but managed to bail out successfully.
